Up around 8 and off at 9. I decided against cross country. Pula looked nice. 60% of today was spent weaving through pedestrians on coastal paths, and the other 40% cycling on loose dirt and gravel through woods. Still… it was a lovely day. No rain at all. I cycled past too many beautiful beaches with clear, bright blue water, to count. I found myself cycling past endless forests with sparse but huge trees (pines or olives etc.). The landscape certainly feels different here. The coast is rocky, and the mud is a deep clay red. Around 13:00 I passed through an area of bushes and shrubs. Some of which had evidently been burned by thankfully contained fires. Suddenly I understood the no camping signs I saw everywhere.
Since today has, so far, gone well there’s not much to report. At 3ish I stopped and got a cokes and 2 chocolate ice lollies as I recharged myself, my water and my phone. Around 4 I stopped in a small bay and went for a very salty but refreshing swim. A few more pedals brought me past the amphitheatre and to the hostel around 5:30. I’ve checked in, bought some snacks and some replacement soap and am sat in the kitchen area writing this. Once again I seem to have picked a not very social hostel. Everyone is silent. I really have to stop doing that!

I went for a solo walk around Pula. Out to the colosseum, up a hill and down to old city bar. There I got a pint and a mixed grill with chips. I wondered the city for a bit and spent some time chilling in a lively square. [they had live music and cranes lit up with all the colours of the rainbow!] Then I went back to the hostel and off to sleep.
