Day 46: The Beach Villa Perigiali, August 16th.

I woke at 9:30 needing a piss. I got up and decided to stay up. Pete was up too. I went for an early morning swim in the sea to wake me up. I've decided to stay at the villa for an extra day before tackling my longest day of cycling tomorrow.

At 11 we set out on the boat to see a cave lagoon. We passed what looked like a WW2 boat converted into a yacht. It turned out to be the yacht that had belonged to Jackie Kennedy and Aristotle Onassis. Later we passed their beach house. We also passed the house of the man who wrote the Greek national anthem. I’m not surprised. It’s a beautiful area.

After an hour we got to the lagoon, but the sea got too rough for us to drop anchor. Instead we headed back. The rough sea splashed up and over the front and soaked me, James and Liv who were sat there. I enjoyed it. Liv did not. We ended up stopping in a calm harbour. At the restaurant we got endless starters; Calamari, Greek Salad, bread and 2 types of dip (taramasalata and spicy cheese). I also got a moussaka. It was all really good, but it was a lot of food and I didn’t feel like I’d earned it today.

After lunch I tried to nap in a hammock but overheated. Instead I swam in the sea along with the others and lots of fish. I dived a couple of times off the dock (once backwards) and read a little. We left around 4. We passed too many yachts and beautiful mountainous wooded islands and villas on the journey to count. When back I took a quick swim in the pool, then a fitful nap in my room. Then I came downstairs and wrote this. It’s 8:30. Dinner soon!

Dinner was chicken and veg. It was good stuff. BBQ always is. I bought them some spenny olive oil from a local shop as a thank-you for hosting.

Afterwards we hung out for a while. I went for a final swim in the pool as music from Jackie Kennedy’s ship blared out over the bay. It wasn’t very good music. We drank a little, then at midnight I said my goodbyes and went off to bed.
