I’ve gotten behind on my journaling. It’s now the 25th and I’m back in Patras as I write this. So I’m going to try my hardest to remember what we got up to.
We got up latish today and spent most of it on one beach. It had a café/bar and we left our stuff there as we went for swims in the sea. I drank a couple of beers, a cold chocolate and a granita over the course of the day. We also stopped at a bakery on the way and I got a good cheese and ham pastry. Andrew and I found some shallow rocks to jump off, and later Nik and I clambered around them to take a look at the beach next door. They were both nice enough – sandy and developed. Classic.
As the day wrapped up I read and slept on a lounger on the beach. We had planned to do several beaches today but annoyingly the others didn’t want to. So instead, around 7, we drove to a nearby village. It was super beautiful and we caught the end of the sunset. After a short explore we got food. I showed Andrew the wonders of honey sesame fried feta. He still isn’t over it.
We also got a Greek salad, and I accidentally ate Matt’s chicken souvlaki while he got my chicken gyros platter. After that I bought an Ikaria T-shirt from a shop. The cashier complimented me and Matt’s ginger hair. Then we went to the “treehouse bar”. It wasn’t a treehouse, but it was surrounded by trees in a grove, full of hanging decorations etc. I liked it. After that we drove back to the hotel, stopping on the way for a short stargazing interval and to switch seats in the car. Back at the hotel I had a nightcap Ouzo with Miles, then we went to sleep.
