Up, out of the hotel and in the car by 11. We drove to Aigos Kirikos, dropped the car, got some stuff from a bakery, then took a bus to Eudilos. We chose a café which took ages to serve us. I got some white chocolate crepes, which were nice, but super sickly and filling.
All of us but Matt then went for a wonder and explore of the town. It was classic Greek beauty – white and blue buildings, orthodox churches, and plenty of cats.
After returning to Matt I took myself off to the beach alone. I was in a somewhat melancholy mood – perhaps because I have the song “Change” by Big Thief, stuck in my head. I wrote a postcard and took a quick swim across the bay to some rocks where I cut my hand and foot! Then I returned to the café and finished off a Greek salad Andrew had bought.
I picked up another cheese pastry, then we all waited for the half seven ferry. Once again we managed to claim airline seats in it, near to our old ones. Most of us spent the first hour or so, as the last light of day faded, outside on the windy deck, watching the island disappear. I believe Andrew spent nearly the whole trip there.
I reclaimed my seat from some girls who were hovering around it, and grabbed some sleep. We arrived in Piraeus by 1:30 and reached our hotel by 2:30. The others got food. I didn’t. It took me a while to sleep, and my phone, which was playing a podcast, was on the other side of the room, so I had to keep getting up to change the volume etc. I even saw a wildfire emergency alert at 4am. This kept up Nik, who was on the bunk above. Sorry!
